A Wonderfully Unique 8-Voice Modal Polysynth and MPE Controller
We started working with Galax Synthesizer Co. in mid 2022 to refine and implement the firmware and synthesis engine for the beautiful forthcoming Balsam synthesizer.
This boutique polysynth and MPE controller features an innovative and expressive fluid-pitch modal control interface driving an engine featuring 8 voices (each with 3 oscillators, a multi-mode filter, and buttery legato envelopes), a global modulation system, pitch glide, and more.

DSP Development
We were originally contracted by Galax to develop a new envelope for the original embedded platform powering the synth and spruce up the prototype firmware. We both quickly realized that our partnership was an excellent match, so we have continued working with Galax to port the entire DSP engine over to a new embedded MCU platform, which has been a fantastically fun and challenging project, involving everything from performance optimization to polishing fine details for maximum musicality.
